Summary & Responsibilities

The Production Tooling Manager will be a key driver in the improvement of manufacturing processes, maintenance of production molds, refurbishment of molds, management of qualified and unqualified spares, staffing of the department, and mentoring/development of the existing team. In addition to supporting the Molding Operations Manager and overall site in the achievement of target OEE, Scrap, and other Site KOI through the effective, proactive, preventative maintenance of Injection Mold Tooling Assure product quality by implementing robust preventative maintenance program, testing methods, equipment, and tools.

  • Collaborate on projects with customers or internal colleagues, new tool and mold development is to be expected including development and implementation of a Phase Gate Tool Readiness approach throughout the mold validation
  • Issuance of new tooling requisitions for new tools or refurbishment/spares to Tool Makers. Management of toolmakers, etc.
  • Responsible for some improvements, major repairs or ECN's to the production molds.
  • Implementation of preventive maintenance for production molds.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements including but not limited to researching, designing, modifying, testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing tooling and process.
  • Implementation of quality and safety improvements in training for tool room team.
  • Generation and implementation of cost reduction ideas.


  • Previous people management experience
  • Ability to work on, assess, and advise on mold repairs
  • 5 years of injection mold tooling experience
  • Preventative maintenance software implementation experience (PLUS)
  • Prior experience with mold, machine or facility maintenance (PLUS)
  • Medical Manufacturing experience (PLUS)
