About our Client

Our client is a contract manufacturer – precision metal stamping and plastic injection molding.  Split is approximately 75% stamping / 25% molding.  They are working to increase the molding side of the business.  They recently brought in several transfer programs from their former molding sister company and were awarded a medical molding program. Currently their markets are 50% medical and 50% Industrial/Automotive.

Summary & Responsibilities

The Molding Process Technician will be the “Go to” person for molding. You will be responsible for the complete set-up, change over, adjustment, and troubleshooting of mold tooling in plant injection molding machines, as well as related auxiliary equipment.

  • Debugging new mold tools and troubleshoot existing
  • Establishing and document molding process parameters
  • Reviewing existing jobs for process improvements to enhance product quality, machine utilization, productivity efficiencies, and reducing set up times and scrap
  • Assist with automation, developing robotic path motions, testing procedures, and documentation
  • Using precision measuring equipment, optical comparators, and microscopes, completes first line quality checks for first piece party submission
  • Works with QA, tool room, and engineering personnel in root cause analysis of problem jobs
  • Completes sampling process, creates and records process sheets, and ensures parts meet required specifications prior to submittal to QA for PPAP completion
  • In coordination with quality assurance and engineering, conducts Design of Experiments (DOEs)
  • Willingness to assist in training and development of molding set up technicians to enhance technical competency as required


  • Experience within a plastic injection molding environment is MANDATORY
  • Processing skills that can help develop and debug new processes and can provide input at mold design for effective use of processes
  • Knowledge of applying Scientific Molding principles and RJG Systems experience is a big plus – they are willing to send the right person to get formal training
  • Must be experienced in the use of precision measuring equipment – micrometers, calipers, optical comparators
  • Leadership Skills desirable – Potential to lead small team as molding business grows
